Your privacy is a priority

Protect your data:

We noticed that the majority of services that are offering email cleaning and unsubscribe services, collects and sells their users data, for many purposes. We built our app with privacy as priority, and we offered it for a fair pricing to make it accessible by everyone.

Your data is encrypted:

Your mailbox access details are encrypted. They are only used to scan your mailbox and perform selected actions, and create filters. Your data is protected, and it’s not shared with anyone.

Optimized algorithms for privacy:

Our algorithms only get necessary information to clean your mailbox such as: subject line, sender, recipient information, dates, and similar metadata. We don’t access the content of emails or their attachments.

Your emails stays private:

We don’t read or store your emails content, we only use necessary metadata to create and manage filters from the emails header, like: The sender information, the date, and the recipient information, the email status if it’s read or not.

How is the access to your email process done?

The majority of email service providers provide for developers their own APIs. We decided to use the official APIs from these email service providers to access your email for many reasons:

  • Our app must pass the verification process of the email service provider, which makes sure that the app is secure and is respecting their terms of service.
  • It makes it easy to connect your email with our app by a few clicks only, and you don’t have to type anything, or do any modification on your account (unlike IMAP access).
  • It makes it easy for you to login to the dashboard, by just 1 click using your account.
  • You don’t have to provide an app password(unlike IMAP access), because the official API like Gmail API uses Oauth 2.0.

What permissions does Spamtrap need to work?

For Gmail accounts, Spamtrap needs access to the following scopes:

  • Gmail.modify scope: This scope allows the app to roll-up emails that you don’t need in your mailboxes anymore. This allows you to move them to the trash bin with one click.
  • Gmail.labels scope: This scope allows the app to read the existing labels on your Gmail account, to know where to move the emails.
  • Gmail.settings.basic scope: This scope allows the app to create, modify and remove filters from your Gmail account. This is necessary to block unwanted and spam emails in future.
You can read more about Oauth 2.0 and scopes from here.

When do we access your email account?

We access your email account when you are using the app, to scan for new emails and senders. We don’t access your emails when you are not using the app. We get necessary metadata from the header of the email, and we don’t read the content of the email, to provide you with an updated list of senders, including information like the total emails received and open rate, to help you make a better decision about the emails you want to keep.

What data does the Spamtrap app store?

We only store necessary data for app functioning temporary while using the app: The sender email and name, message IDs (We only store the message ID which is necessary to move the message to the trash bin in case of cleaning) and we remove them after you log out from the app, and the access tokens necessary for Oauth 2.0 authentication.

All the stored data is encrypted, and is not accessed by anyone, it's only used by the app when you are using it and in case of subscription activation or cancelation.

You can at any time cancel your subscription (in case of paid subscription) and delete all your account data on our system with one click. This process automatically revokes the app access to your email account.
